  • Care and Cleaning

Not appropriate for machine washing. Gently wipe with a damp, soft, white cloth and neutral soap. Avoid aggressive detergents or cleaning products with solvents as they can destroy the glue of any glued component. Dry with a dry cloth. Exposure to heat sources such as the sun, washing machines, or hot cars may damage the colour and texture and can deform or shrink the product. Keep your handbag in the original box, protected from contact with other materials to avoid stains or colour transfer.

  • Frequently asked questions
    • Does the bag include lining?

The bag does not include interior lining.

    • Is this bag waterproof?

This bag is produced in BioCir®flex, a waterproof material. However, the closing area does not waterproof its interior.

    • Does the bag include removable straps?

The bag doesn't include removable straps nor the ring to add straps.

    • Is the bag lemon-scented?

      Yes, this bag is lemon-scented.

    • What is BioCir®Flex material?

BioCir®Flex is a biobased, durable, flexible, fully compostable, and recyclable thermoplastic elastomer that has a clear circular end-of-life.

    • What is the biobased content?

The biobased content component of the materials is derived from plant-based sources such as castor beans, oils, and polysaccharides.

    • What makes BioCir®Flex material genuinely circular?

BioCir® materials are circular due to a combination of factors. Their material composition is carefully chosen to promote biodegradation, and they are designed to compost effectively under controlled conditions. Through rigorous testing, BioCir® materials have been proven to biodegrade without leaving harmful byproducts such as toxins or microplastics, making them truly sustainable and contributing to a circular economy.

    • Does BioCir®Flex material have certifications?

BioCir®Flex material is DIN CERTCO Biobased and Industrially Compostable certified. Its composition is based on fully biodegradable materials that meet U.S. (ASTM D6400-04) and E.U. (EN 13432) standards for composting in industrial composting facilities, including the ISO 14855 - biodegradation test under industrial compost conditions, the ISO OECD 208 - compost quality test (for eco-toxicity & heavy metals).

    • How long do products made from BioCir®Flex last before they start to degrade and break and whether this degradation happens sooner than regular plastic?

The degradation process of goods made from BioCir® begins only in a specialized industrial composting environment where controlled conditions are given. As a result, degradation does not occur during typical consumer use. BioCir® products are designed to maintain their integrity and functionality throughout their intended lifespan, offering longevity comparable to conventional plastic materials.

    • How can return my handbag at the end of its lifecyle?

The bag should return to our facilities under our Closing the Loop program.

    • How is the bag's end-of-life process managed?

The bag's material end-of-life process is supported by Balena proprietary global compost facilities partnerships.

    • What happens to the bag in industrial compost facilities?

After reaching an industrial compost facility, products are placed into the compost pile. A combination of oxygen, microorganisms, heat, and moisture breaks longer polymers into smaller fragments, which further biodegrade into carbon dioxide, water, and renewable biomass, consumed as an energy source for living soil-enriching bacteria, leaving behind no waste or contamination.

    • What happens to BioCir® if it isn't getting to the compost environment?

Eventually, it will biodegrade after a certain period of time.

    • Recommendations

Keep your handbag in its original box, protected from contact with other materials to avoid stains or colour transfer. If you need to clean it, gently wipe it with a damp, soft, white cloth without aggressive detergents or corrosive cleaning products. Dry with a dry cloth or let air dry in a well-ventilated area, never directly in the sun or near a heat source, as this may damage the materials, colour, and texture. Never wash the bag in the washing machine as this will damage the product.
